EVANSTON, Ill. – Boo Buie scored 26 points to lead Northwestern to a 64-58 Big Ten victory over the No. 1-ranked Purdue Boilermakers.
Purdue, up by seven at half, led by eight with 3:53 to go. Northwestern went on a 17-3 run, capped by a Chase Audige 3-pointer from the right side to put the Wildcats ahead for good at 1:43, 59-57.
It marked Northwestern’s first victory over a No. 1 team in school history, prompting students to storm the court.
Buie added four rebounds, three assists, three steals and a career-high three blocks. Audige finished with 15 points.
For Purdue, Zach Edey had 24 points and eight rebounds. Braden Smith added 10. Purdue committed 13 of its 16 turnovers in the second half.
Northwestern plays Indiana Wednesday. Purdue plays Maryland Thursday.
